External Programs
Central Massachusetts is lucky to be closely located to several organizations that are dedicated to promoting music education in our youth. Below are just a few.
Worcester Youth Orchestras
Based in Worcester since 1947, with rehearsal space in Auburn, WYO offers a plethora of ensembles, both large and small to students in and around central Massachusetts. It’s premier group, the Symphony Orchestra is well known for its talent and performances at Mechanics Hall. In 2019, the group toured the Czech Republic and performed at Governor Baker’s inaugration ceremony.
Indian Hill Music
Based in Littleton, Indian Hill is best known for its extensive age range of course offerings. Starting as young as 1, the program also has offerings catered to adult music learners.
Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra
Based in Boston, BYSO is known for being one of the most competitive and talented youth music groups in the state. Although the group is made up of incredible musicians, the program offers fewer groups than Worcester Youth Orchestras. BYSO was formed in 1958 and now serves over 600 children across the state of Massachusetts. This group is directly related to the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
New England Conservatory Prep
Also based in Boston, NEC Prep is a music preparatory school created by the well known music conservatory. This group offers by far the most diverse course offerings both during the school year and the summer. As the name implies, many use this group to prepare for a music career after high school.
